Strafford Construction is looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Field Estimator / Claims Writer to join our expanding team across the Chicago suburbs.
This is a hands-on, high-income role for someone who wants to be out in the field inspecting properties and writing professional insurance estimates.
About the Role
You’ll be responsible for:
Conducting on-site photo inspections of storm-damaged homes
Documenting all relevant damages (roofing, siding, gutters, etc.)
Using Xactimate software to create accurate and professional insurance estimates
Communicating findings with our internal team and ensuring all reports are complete and organized
This position combines both field work and estimate writing, so you’ll spend time traveling between appointments and working on estimates.
Schedule & Expectations
Availability: Monday–Saturday during daytime hours
Be available on short notice for new inspections
Write approximately 5–10 estimates per day
Must be comfortable driving to homes throughout the suburbs
What We’re Looking For
Excellent attention to detail and organization
Strong communication and professionalism with homeowners
Reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license
Xactimate experience preferred but not required (training provided)
Background in construction, restoration, or insurance estimating is a plus
